Product review: Real Techniques core collection

I have had sooo many people say “oh no” or tut me as when it comes time to apply my foundation I use my hands/fingers. I have never really been the one to use brushes or sponges, but I think this is due to the fact I was using el cheapo brushes that just did not blend very well.

I was sent some Real Techniques base/flawless core collection brushes $45. Now there is no comparing these brushes to the cheap ones I have used previously as they are in a league of their own.
This is what the kit includes:

•  detailer brush: precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition
I love using this brush with my concealer under my eye area as it is gentle but works it nicely and covers them bags.

•  pointed foundation brush: Use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage
Never ever have I used a pointed brush of any sort, not even for painting. So I had to turn to the real techniques site for some advice and tips- and there certainly are some amazing facts for those who have no real idea like me.

•  buffing brush: ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation
This is one of the brushes I had previously owned and like as I used it for my powder foundation, my blush and sometimes my bronzer- this DID mean a heck load of brush cleaning. Because they were cheapies I lost most of the bristles after the first wash. My favourite brush from this set.

•  contour brush: delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish
I am a contour freak so I DO already own a contour brush, because if I didn’t it may be a little hard to apply a defining powder and contouring powder. But I replaced the old with this brush and was amazed at how much of a difference it made. For starters I would only have to use a touch of product and it would do both cheek bones. The products don’t sink to the bottom of the bristles like my old one and sits beautifully and evenly on top.
All four of these brushes come in a super handy panoramic brush case is a 2-in-1 case + stand.

Before receiving these I had no idea how many different brushes on the market and how each brush is used for a certain area of the face to achieve a certain look or for a certain product.

Here are some of Real Techniques how to videos, which are great for those beauties also new to using brushes.
